Fill the freezer once at our best price per pound
← Back to beef — today's cuts & prices
Filling a freezer once beats shopping for beef every week — and buying by the quarter, half, or whole is the best per-pound price we offer, on every single cut.

You decide what your beef becomes: steak thickness, roast sizes, how much ground. Never done one? It takes about 10 minutes and we'll walk you through every choice. (Buying a quarter? You'll share one cut sheet with the other quarter on your half — see the note below.)
We take your animal to our local butcher. Once it's weighed, your payment to Tui Farms is due — the per-pound price times the hanging weight (the butcher-ready weight; you'll know the exact number before you pay).
The butcher cuts, vacuum-packs, and freezes everything to your cut sheet. When it's ready, you pick it up there and pay their butchering bill directly — figure about $1.25/lb hanging weight for a straightforward cut sheet, a bit more for extras like patties or beef sticks.
Bulk beef is priced on hanging weight — roughly 60–65% of it comes home as packaged cuts.
| Quarter — about 200 lbs hanging, ~120–130 lbs of cuts | $4.75/lb hanging |
| Half — about 400 lbs hanging, ~240–260 lbs of cuts | $4.60/lb hanging |
| Whole — about 800 lbs hanging, ~480–520 lbs of cuts | $4.50/lb hanging |
A note on quarters: the butcher cuts down to halves, so two quarters share one half — both quarter orders use the same cut sheet, and we split the packed beef into two shares as equal as we can make them.
A worked example: a whole beef hanging at 800 lbs is $3,600 to the farm, plus a butchering bill around $1,000 paid to the butcher at pickup — about $4,600 all-in for roughly 480–520 lbs of cuts, under $10 per packaged pound.
Two payments: the farm (right after drop-off, once the hanging weight is known) and the butcher (at pickup). Every animal weighs a little different — your totals go by the real numbers.
A quarter takes about 4 cubic feet — a mini chest freezer, or a mostly-empty kitchen freezer, handles it.
A half takes about 7 cubic feet — a small chest freezer swallows it with room to spare.
A whole takes about 14 cubic feet — a standard full-size chest freezer handles it comfortably.
Roughly half comes back as ground and everyday beef, and the rest as steaks and roasts — and your cut sheet shifts that balance whichever way your family eats.
